Services for Glen Shipley, Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 - 7 p.m. today at the mortuary.
Mr. Shipley died Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at Genesis Medical Center - West Campus, Davenport.
He was employed as a millwright at Alcoa Davenport Works, Riverdale, IA. He retired in 1976. Before that he worked at J. I. Case and Iowa and Illinois Concrete Products and had owned and operated the formaer Triangle Truck Port Service Garage at Harlan's.
He was born April 14, 1918, in Minden Mines, MO to James and Georgie (Kelsey) Shipley. He married Lucille E. Cook on March 1, 1938, in Longmont, CO. She died March 28, 1994.
Mr. Shipley enjoyed auctions, flea markets and especially old cars. He was a member of the Quad-City Antique Ford Club, Midwest Old Timers and Plymouth Club. He was a former member of the Do-Si-Do Square Dance Club. Glen was very active for many years in the Masonic Lodge. He was a member and twice past master of the Davenport Blue Lodge 37 and a member and past master of the Bettendorf Early Morning Blue Lodge. He was a member and marshall of the Davenport Scottish Rite, a member of Daveport Shrine, Davenport Star and York Rites. He was also a member of Blue Lodge 3rd Degree Team, High Twelve and Mohassan Grotto. Mr. Shipley was an active volunteer shuttle driver for the Shriner's Hospital for Children.
