Gordon R. Collett passed away on September 1, 2012 at the Marquis Care Center in Boise.

Gordon was the second child born to Loren and Lona Collett in Moscow, Idaho on February 3, 1916. The family moved to Grandview, Idaho where he graduated from high school. Following graduation, he studied at the University of Idaho receiving an Associate's Degree.

Gordon served as an officer in the infantry, part of General Patton's army, in Germany during World War II.

After returning from Europe, he received a law degree and was employed by the Internal Revenue Service in Estate Auditing. Following retirement from the IRS, he worked for Idaho First National Bank in the Trust Department. In 1973, Gordon married Lucille (Susie).

Gordon loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting of big game and birds. He and Susie enjoyed traveling overseas, with his favorite country being Tanzania, Africa. They enjoyed 20 summers in Stanley, Idaho, making lots of friends.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Lona; two sisters, Lillian and Virginia; and one brother, Uriel.

He is survived by nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, and great-grandnephews.

Everyone enjoyed Gordon's excellent storytelling skills. Thanks to all who provided loving care for Gordon during the past few months.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial can be sent to Redeemer Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 2920 Cassia Street, Boise, ID 83705.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Summers Funeral Homes, Boise Chapel.
