Ernst Frederich von Walterstorff was Governor of the Virgin Islands from February 2nd 1802 to February 2nd 1803 On October 21 Chamberlain Major General Ernst Frederik von Walterstorff was appointed Governor General. Under the command of Captain P. C. Wessel Brown, the frigate Iris was fortified with forty cannons and three hundred and eighty men to transport the Governor General and a few new government emplyees to the West Indies. Walterstorff made his entrance into Christiansted on January 15th 1802. The actual handing over of government took place on February 16th St Croix
