About Grace Turnbull
Grace, Turnbull was the eldest daughter of First Fleeters Owen Cavanough and Margaret Darnell.
In early 1811 Grace was 16 and visibly pregnant. She steadfastly refused to name the father of her child; but everyone believed it was Ralph Turnbull (aged 21). Baby Mary Ann Cavanough was delivered on her grandparent's farm at Portland Head on 21st August 1811.
Grace & Ralph married two years later 0n 30th August 2013. Grace's 2 year old daughter, Mary Ann adopted the Turnbull surname. Their first son Ralph Jnr was born on 15th October 1814. John was born in 1817 and their 2nd daughter (my 3rd Great Grandmother) Elizabeth was born on the Portland Head farm on 17th of November 1819. Last child Ann was born to Grace & Ralph on 1st December 1820. Grace passed away in 1828 at just 33yrs of age leaving husband Ralph to look after five children. Ralph's second wife was Mary Ann Riley - they married in 1829.
Turnbull sisters Mary Ann b.1811 & Elizabeth b.1819; married Dunston brothers James b.805 & John b.1802 respectively.
