About Green Betts Moody
Veteran CSA from 1860 - 1863, wounded in Virginia while serving in Company E., 28th Georgia Volenteer Infantry.
His first two wifes died leaving him with 4 living children, He then married his first cousin Catherine Ardena (she was 15) They parented 11 more -- all born in the Home He built on some three hundred acres in South East part of Meriwether County between the Cove & Chalybeate Springs, Georgia. He also constucted the Grist Mill, barns etc. Their home contained some 7 rooms with hallway to a detatched Kitchen. This Home burned in the late 1970's -- only chimeny remains--This part of the land now owned by decendants of son Alphus & used only during Deer season. Much of the other land is still owned by Moody's.
In 1909 he "Special Shipped In" an Organ for daughter Katie Louise's Ninth Birthday.
