Transcription of will of Green V. Tankersley Filed 5 April 1865
Scott County, Illinois
I, Greene V. Tankersley of the county of Scott & State of Illinois being in feeble health, but of sound mind and memory do make and publish the following as and for my last will & testament
First
It is my will that all my just debts and funeral expenses be fully paid.
Second
After the payment of such funeral expenses and debts,
I give and devise and bequeath unto my beloved wife Martha Tankersley that portion of the Farm on which we now reside west of the county road known as follows The south East of the North East os section (23) twenty three township 14 range 12 Also the south east of the North east the West half of the North west of section twenty four (24) T. Fourteen R Twelve during her natural life. Also two Milch Cows Two work horses wagon and Harness for ever. Also all our kitchen and household furniture and Money on hand forever. Know if my beloved wife should die before my youngest daughter becomes of age then my three youngest Children is to receive the rent of said Land until the youngest Effie Lee Tankersley arrives at the Age of eighteen years of Age. When the said one hundred and Twenty acres of Land is to be sold at public sale and out of the proceeds of Said Sale first Eliab Kirby Tankersley is to receive the sum of Four hundred Dollars the balance of said Money to be divided Equally between my beloved Children to wit William Tankersley Bynum Tankersley Caroline Gibbs Mary Gibbs Sarah Loud Hannah J Tankersley Lutitia A A Tankersley Eliab Kirby Tankersley Supping F Tankersley Effie Lee Tankersley
Thirdly the forty Acres East of the county road known as follows the South East quarter of the North west quarter of section twenty four in Township fourteen North and range 12 west in the county of Scott & State of Ills. Is to be sold together with the personal property at public sale and after all my just debts are paid the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars is to be paid each of my beloved Daughters Hannah and Lutitia Tankersley from proceeds of said Sales & the balance if any to be put at Inerest for the support of my three youngest Children
And lastly I hereby constitute and appoint John Gibbs my Executor of this my last will and Testament revoking and annulling all former will made and ratifying and confirming this and no other to be last will and Testament
