About Guitard, Vescomte de Barcelona
Viscount of Barcelona (c. 966-c. 985). First definite link in the viscountal lineage of Barcelona. It is thought that he was the son of his forebear Gombau. In 966, he was executor of the will of Count Miró, and in 974 and 976, he travelled to Cordoba as ambassador of Count Borrell II. He strengthened his links with the latter by marrying two of his own sons, Udalard (who succeeded him) and Geribert, to two of the count's daughters, Riquilda and Ermengarda.
