About HAKIM SHARIF KHAN

Founder of the mansion-Sharif Manzil-in Ballimaran,Delhi.Period 1138 A.H.-1222A.H.Mughal Emperor Shah Alam II granted him jagirs in Panipat & Dasna conferred on him the title of Ashraf-ul-Hukma.He had to his credit a large number of treatises on medicine & several books on logic,hadith and history.Translated Holy Quran into the Persian & Urdu language.Dedicated his book-Tuhfa-e-Alam Shahi or Khwas-ul-Jawahar to Sham Alam II.Considered authority in medicine & physicians of his times consulted him.Sir Syed Ahmed Khan in his book-Aasar-us-Sanaadeed-compared him to such ancient luminaries of the globe as Aristotle(384-322 A.D. and Gelen(129-190A.D.).He constructed a mosque,,in 1206A.H.(inscribed on it) near his house in Ballimaran, which exists till date. He died at the age of 84 and buried in Mehrauli,Delhi.
