Alexander Hamilton Willard Jr, the boy's uncle, was 1st appointed guardian of Hamilton Alexander Willard after Alexander H. Willard, Austin James Willard, and Abner Nichols paid the $5 fee in Dec 1839.47 Stephen W. Peyton, the boy's step-father, was appointed guardian of Hamilton Alexander Willard on 10 Dec 1846.48

1850 Census: Hamilton Alexander Willard, called Hamilton A. Willard, appeared on the census of 23 Sep 1850 in the household of Stephen W. Peyton and Aurelia Shattuck at Otter Creek township, Jackson county, Iowa, aged 14, born Wisconsin.49,50

1860 Census: Hamilton Alexander Willard, called H. A. Willard appeared on the census of 7 Jul 1860 living in a boarding house in the community that used the North San Juan Post Office, Bridgeport township, Nevada county, California; H. A. is 24, a brick layer, born in Wisconsin.51

Land Buy: George Clark Willard, called George C. Willard, obtained a Military Scrip Warrant Patent for a parcel of land on 1 Aug 1866 in Sacramento county, California. This is probably land earned by George, but redeemed by his two sons in his name. The document has been ordered.52 1880 Census: Hamilton Alexander Willard, called H. A. Willard, and his wife, Mary Bithell, called Mary Willard, appeared on the census enumerated 8 Jun 1880 living in a house on Broadway, Butte City, Deer Lodge county (modern Silver Bow county), Montana Territory, with 3 children; H. A. is 42, a Miner, born in Mass, nothing known of parents; Mary is 26, Keeping House, born in England, both parents born in England.53

Willard, and his wife, Mary Bithell, called Mary Willard, appeared on the census enumerated 1 Jun 1900 living in Butte City, Silver Bow county, Montana, with 1 daughter; Hamilton is 64, born Jan 1836 in Wisconsin, married for 27 years, parents born Wisconsin, a Brick Mason; Mary is 50, born March 1850 in England, married 27 years, the mother of 1 child, 1 living, parents born England.54

1910 Census: Hamilton Alexander Willard, called Hamilton A. Willard, appeared on the census enumerated 9 May 1910 lodging in a Hotel on B Street, Mabton, Yakima county, Washington, with no other family, age 74, a Widower, born Wisconsin, f.b. Missouri, m.b. U.S., a Bricklayer in Building trade.55 MARY BITHELL was born in Mar 1850 at Birkenhead, Cheshire, England.56,57,58 She died on 29 Jan 1906 at Butte, Silver Bow county, Montana, at age 55.59,60 She was also known as Polly.61 She emigrated in 1860 from England.62 Known children of Hamilton Alexander2 Willard and Mary Bithell were as follows: + 5 i. I'm looking for information on Hamilton Alexander and Ralph Willard, both sons of George Clarke Willard (son of Alexander Hamilton Willard).

Hamilton Alexander was born ca. 1836 and apparently died in 1915. I have no info on Ralph at all.

When George Clarke Willard was murdered, his widow Aurelia Shattuck Willard later married Stephen W. Peyton of Iowa. Peyton became the guardian of the two boys (he was also my ancestor). Do you know what happened to Hamilton and Ralph?

Hamilton (My G-Grandfather) went on to marry Mary Bithell. They had 4 children, one being Margaret Willard (My Grandmother) who married William Parker. They had two daughters, one was Allee Margaret Parker (My Mother) who married J. Louis Olsen (My Father).
