Hannah was born in 1674. She is the daughter of Thomas Pemberton. and Hannah Phillips b: 29 NOV 1654 in Boston Village (Essex) Massachusetts Bay Colony

1696, January 29: Read Elding of Barbados married Hannah Pemberton at Boston Village (Suffolk) Massachusetts Colony.

1696, February 13: "Upon ye 13th of February 1695/6 I maryed in old Mr Pembertons Houfe Major Read Elding and Hannah Pemberton of Bofton ye being Legally publifhed. 1) Edward; born November 18, 1696.

4.) A fourth, unnamed child is listed in the Bahamas Census He is thought to be John Elden, later of Maine. John may have been born in The Bahamas. He was probably returned to Massachusetts of York, Maine when Spanish and French Pirates wrestled The Bahamas from English rule.

In 1695 Read Elding went to Boston and married Hannah Pemberton. "The Pembertons, who were friends and associates of the Mathers, ranked among the most prominent families in the area and Hannah's uncle was such a highly regarded divine, that his portrait became one of the first to be published in the colony."

"Hannah and Governor Elding's daughter, Hannah, was reared in the Bahamas but eventually sent back to Boston. Perhaps the social and political havoc piracy continued to cause in this part of the Carribean had made it too dangerous for young women of her class. Whatever the reason, records show that Hannah Elding married the gunsmith, Samuel Miller, in 1728. The fact that Samuel and his father, Alexander, had at various times, both been elected Constables indicates that the Millers, like the Pembertons, must have enjoyed a certain social standing themselves. In fact, the few genealogical notes unearthed on this family show that they were related to Governor Wentworth of New Hampshire, as well."

Hannah's uncle, Ebenezer Pemberton, son of James PEMBERTON , b: 2 MAY 1622 in Village of St. Peter, St. Albans Parish (Hertfordshire) England and Sarah Marshall b: 1631 in Boston Settlement, Massachusetts Bay Colony was indeed a "highly regarded divine" See his wikitree entry. Hannah Pemberton Elding was horrifically murdered by French or Spanish Pirates in 1709 (See the Colonial Papers 1709- attached screenshot)

A number of documents show that Hanna's children returned to Massachusetts and Maine, whether to marry or to escape the pirates the infested The Bahamas for a decade is uncertain. It is generally thought that the Eldings or Eldons of the Buxton area in Maine are the descendants of of Hannah's son John Elding/Eldon.

A Contributor at my heritage.com- says that a. Hannah Pembertonwas born on May 3 1673, in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, USA., that she married Read Elding in 1695 when she was 15 years old and that they had a son named John Elden.

b. Another tree says Hannah was born on February 12 1674/75, in Boston Village (Suffolk) Massachusetts Bay Colony. Although neither cites sources, this is worth looking into, it seems likely that one was a birth record, the other a christening.
