HELY. — On the 18th instant, at the Club House Hotel, Kincaid-street, Wagga Wagga, after a long and painful illness, Hannah Hely, wife of Mr. John Hely, late of Launceston, shipwright and boat-builder, beloved mother of Mr. John Hely, of the Club House Hotel, Wagga Wagga, and second eldest sister of Mrs. R. Green, of Parramatta, aged 74 years.

To the Editor of the Sydney Monitor.

SIR,-Observing an advertisement in the Sydney Gazette, signed "JOHN HEALY, jun,", cautioning the Public not to credit his wife (my daughter) on his account; I beg to remark, that it is not likely much credit would be given to the wife of a journeyman tradesman.

The advertisement is only intended to hurt my feelings, and to intrude a family dispute on the notice of the Public. I shall not follow Mr. John Healy's example further, than by observing, that the treatment my daughter experienced was shameful. A trumpery charge was invented against her (on a mere dispute with her mother-in-law), and she was sent to the watch-house by her husband, where she must have remained all night, had not her situation by mere accident reached the ears of her brothers. At that time, she was suckling an infant only six months old, and herself of the formidable age of 19 !

This was the first instance of any one of my family having been, for a moment, in any place of confinement, which I believe is not the case with Mr. John Healy's.

N. B.-The Court was shocked at the barefaced villainy of such a fellow in the character of a husband; and is it likely a female could attack a whole house, and endanger the lives of her mother-in-law, sister-in-law, husband, and three servants.

The young woman's character and family is too well known, and too highly respected, to be impeached by such a calumnious report.
