Biography

Older daughter of Benjamin Larrabee (aka Letherby or Letherbay), and Mary Elithorpe, Hannah was born in December 1735 in what was then part of the British province of Massachusetts Bay, part of New England. Later (1820) this area became the state of Maine. Her younger sister, Elizabeth, b. 1737, went by the name Letherby or Letherbay but Hannah usually used Larrabee as her maiden name. The two sisters married two sea-captain brothers of the Isaac Snow family from Truro, Cape Cod, Massachusetts: Captain John Snow married Hannah in 1754 and Captain Isaac Snow married Elizabeth in 1757. This has generated some confusion among later genealogists. As Hannah commonly used Larrabee, it is preferred for this site. All merges should be into Larrabee-1171.
