About Hannah Supplee
Hannah related her experiences atending the Philadelphia market. That appears to have been one of the duties of the women folk during the busy season. the country at that ties was sparsely settled, much of it being covered with woods. For company for each other they traeled to market in groups of eight and ten persons, and on their homeward journey they sometimes wold test the speed of their steeds by doing a little horse reacing. The distance they had to travel to Philadelphia market was twenty five miles. Those sturdy pioneers did not have the conveniences we now enjoy. They, however, laid the foundations of this wonderful country. All of her children were born on the homstead where they settled in 1779.
