Hannes Kelly (1962 - 2014)
Brief overview:
Hannes (52), was attacked by two males with hammers and sticks on 1st May 2014 around 17h00, while he was taking out his garbage, in Levubu, Limpopo. The perpetrators forced him to open his safe. They stole R20,000 and two cellphones and left Hannes for dead. Hannes died three days later, after collapsing at Louis Trichardt Memorial Hospital.
On 10th May the two suspects were arrested. Tableo Teophillus Singage (20), and Maxwel Conti Ntatamala (23) appeared in the Louis Trichardt District Court on May 13th and 16th. They face charges of housebreaking and murder. Singage and Ntatamala were linked to other incidents of crime in the Levubu area against farmers.
In June 2014 Singage and Ntatamala were granted R2000 bail, and released, and the case was postponed to August 2014.
On 15th August the accused appeared in court again, but was again postponed again, because the prosecutor was unavailable due to other work obligations. The case was rescheduled for 26th September 2014.
