Hans Obermiller

Hans Obermiller was born in Frederiksholm (Friedrichsholm), Schleswig (Schleswig-Holstein Germany), January 28, 1837. He came to America in the spring of 1862, lived in Illinois for two years, thence he moved to Omaha, and from there to Grand Island. He came to Howard county in 1862 and lived on his farm south-west of Farwell till about seventeen years ago when he moved to Farwell.
Mr. Obermiller was married September 10, 1866 to Miss Margareth (Margaretta) Larsen (Lassen), to this union 13 children were born, eighth of which (whom) are living: Mrs. Minnie Nagel of Washugo (Washougal), Wash; John Obermiller, Fred Obermiller, and Mrs. August (Caroline) Wichman of Farwell (Neb); Mrs. Henry Obermiller of St. Paul (Neb); Albert Obermiller of Loup City (Neb); Harry Obermiller of Schaupps (Neb); and Mrs. Freda (Freida) Nielsen of Custer county (Neb).
Mr. Obermiller died at his home in Farwell, March 27, 1920 at the age of 83 years, 1 month and 30 days. He was buried yesterday in the Kelso Cemetery, Rev. Pedersen of Dannebrog officiating. He had been sick all winter.
Mr. Obermiller leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, eight children, twenty-seven grand children, four great-grandchildren, two brothers, two sisters, and a host of friends, for he was a man well known, well liked and very highly respected by all. We had personally known him ever since he came to Howard county and know that another of the best of our good and true Pioneers has gone to a well earned rest. A man who had fully done his share of good in a long life.
