Hans Oscar Hanson worked in the Norwegian Merchant Marine. He came to Canada sometime between 1879-1882 with Johnny Johnson. Half way across the ocean they discovered there was a stowaway by the name of Andrew Anderson. Hans and Johnny asked if the boy could stay in Canada if they looked out for him. He lived with them in Canada and when Hans married he lived with the couple. Hans and Annie's oldest daughter was Mary Christine born in 1884. When she grew up she married Andrew and they moved back to Norway. They had 10 children.
Fourth Generation of Canada Census of 1901 states Hans Oscar Hanson (Hansen) emigrated from Norway in 1883 to Canada. It also gives birth dates for his children at that time and his wife Susanna Hanson (England).
