About Harriet Bosher
Harriet Beauchamp's baptism has not been found. She would have have been born when her mother was about 15 or 16, according to census records and the baptism record of the woman who we believe is her mother. There is also no marriage record of her parents. Therefore we can assume that she was born illegitimately and her parents never married. However, her mother would have reported that the father was a William Beauchamp or Harriet knew him. Certainly, she gave Harriet his surname.
It has been said by Margaret Jean Major that her mother Harriet Fuller was an actress and travelled quite a bit. Therefore, Harriet Beauchamp could have been born anywhere. She is found in the census of 1841 aged 14 living in Chertsey, Surrey with a Harriet Brown, and in the 1851 census aged 23 in Chertsey living with a Fanny Cole.
Given that we believe her mother was born circa 1812 and Harriet was born 1826 or 1827 (despite her death record claiming circa 1830) then her mother was probably only 15 or 16 at her birth. There may be some bastardy records somewhere.
