Harriet Susannah Bridgland

Harriet Susan/Susannah Thornton, was the daughter of Sterling Clack Thornton and Mary Jones. She married Alexander Bridgland, the son of John Bridgland and Katherine Vincent, in Prince Edward, VA on 17 Mar 1807.

Their daughter, Elizabeth Bridgland, married James R Bowles (Boles) in Rockbridge Co., VA on 24 Apr 1851. In 1860 they were in Campbell Co., VA, James Bowles, 52 (B 1808); Harriett E, 37 (B 1823); Jno A, 8 and Jas T, 4, all VA born.

Their daughter, Sarah Jane Bridgland, married Rutherford H Figgat on 15 Apr 1840 in Botetourt Co., VA (below).

Their daughter, Mary Ann Bridgland, died 15 Oct 1854 in Campbell, VA, the wife of Richard Reid Liggan (below).

Their daughter Dorothy Chamberlain Bridgland, born 5 or 12 Dec 1813, died in AL in Apr 1881.

Their daughter Caroline Bridgland (1825-1866) married James Miller at unknown date and had children (Patrick H, William, Lucy John, Alex John, Fanny per VCUD)

Their "son John who burned to death as a child" (per VCUD)

Her sister, Mary S. Thornton, was born in Nottoway Co., VA in 1781 and died in Dinwiddie, VA on 5 May 1855.
