About Harriet Ola Gigliotti
She was born August 14, 1927, in West Winfield, the daughter of Mabel E. (Stuber) and Elmer L. Woodworth. Harriet lived in West Winfield and Waterville and graduated from Waterville Central School in 1945. Her early work experience was as a bookkeeper for Pat McDonald's Garage in Waterville, with the Community Chest, and later Monarch Labs in Utica.
On June 3, 1950, Harriet married Francis "Hank" Gigliotti. Shortly thereafter they purchased the farm on Skaneateles Turnpike which they managed together while raising their three children. She also worked with Boss' Livestock Auction, Rowlands' Exxon, and with the USPS as a substitute mail carrier. She was a past member of the Unadilla Forks Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. Harriet was an accomplished seamstress, avid reader, and her enjoyment of music and playing the piano was shared with her family and encouraged in her children and grandchildren.
Her appreciation of antiques, history, and genealogy led her to turn hobbies of chair caning, furniture restoration, and the likes, into a successful "Hattie's Antiques" endeavor which she managed with her husband over the past 30 years. She was renowned for her knowledge of local history and an active force in the foundation and perpetuation of the Huntley Cemetery Association which, over the past 50 years, restored the overgrown and neglected rural cemetery on South Road. She was the Secretary/Treasurer of the Huntley Cemetery Association at the time of her death.
Besides her husband of 56 years, Harriet is survived by daughters, Lois Estabrook and her husband, Gordon Estabrook, of Sharon, NH, and Alison Haga and her husband, Joe Mistkowski, of West Winfield; and daughter-in-law, Georg-ann Gigliotti of West Winfield. She is also survived by grandchildren, Linda and Loren Estabrook, Eric and Megan Gigliotti, and William "Trey" Haga; sisters, Ruth Tabor of Troy, NY, and Anne Jasek of Waterville, NY; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Bruce Gigliotti, October 30, 2004; and a sister, Emma Houseknecht, in 1994.
Calling hours will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m., on Sunday, May 21, at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 365 West Main St., West Winfield. Funeral services will be held, 10:00 a.m., Monday, at the funeral home, followed by interment at Huntley Cemetery, South Road, West Winfield.
