About Harriet Houck Cargo Getman
Harriet was the daughter of Seely Jewell and Hannah Brodock Lamb of Connecticut and New York. She first married Michael Hauck, a farmer from Germany, in New York about 1851 and had a son, George (1853-1897). They were still in Oneida County, New York in 1855. On 8 November 1858, she married David Cargo in Wood County and by 1870, her son, George, had taken Cargo as his surname. David died in 1874 and before 1880, she married John Van Rensselaer Getman, a merchant in Bowling Green, Ohio. (George's name was again Houck.) Her death record was signed by her younger sister, Irene (Abbott), of Palmyra, New York.∼Harriet was first married to Michael Houck, and had one son George, who died as a child. Following the death of Michael, she moved to Bowling Green in 1857. In 1860, she married David Cargo, who died in 1871. In 1877 she married V.I. Getman. He died in 1892.
She lived in Bowling Green for 55 years and was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She suffered from Bright's Disease, which caused her death.
