From Hattie's Findagrave.com page:
Hattie was my great aunt, my grandma Kerns' sister. She hated her legal name so that is why her name is Hattie on her headstone. To ever call her by first legal name was fightin' words. lol...She loved to fish, was very outspoken and spunky. The last few years of her life she lived with my parents in St. Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri. She fell in her room one night, my son who was 4 years old was staying all night at my parents and heard her fall. He woke my parents and told them Aunt Hattie had fallen out bed and bumped her head. They checked and she was unconscious on the floor next to the bed where she had hit her head on the nightstand. It's unknown if she had a stroke and fell or if the stroke was after she fell. She was taken by ambulance to the Missouri Methodist Hospital where she died without ever regaining consciousness.
My son didn't know for until many years later she had died that night. At the time we just told him she went back home.He and she were very close and she had him spoilt rotten. She believed I had named him after her deceased husband and one of her son's. I never saw any reason to tell her any different.
