About Harriet Linda Schleifer
Harriet Schleifer received her undergraduate degree from Cornell University, two graduate degrees in education from the University of Virginia and a law degree from St. John's University. As an attorney, she specialized in education law, including representation of students with special needs.
Her current focus is service to several non-profit organizations. Long active in the American Jewish Committee, she became its national president in 2019. She is also a member of the Executive Committee of Chapel Haven Schleifer Center, a school dedicated to enhancing the independence of adults with developmental and social disabilities; secretary of the Board of Trustees of the Jewish Museum; and a board member of JBS-TV, the Plaza Jewish Community Chapel, and UJA Women of Northern Westchester.
A past president of her synagogue, Bet Torah in Mount Kisco, NY, she has also held various leadership roles in the Chappaqua, NY, community.
