Harrison Herman Severe was born 17 September 1820 at Knox County, Ohio, United States, the son of James Severe (1775 - 1849) and Mary Harris (1779 - 1852). He arrived in Utah 4 October 1850. He had two plural wives and seventeen children. The Severe family home was in Grantsville, Tooele County, Utah. Harrison Severe served as a Captain in the Nauvoo Legion, a Pony Express rider, and a bodyguard of President Brigham Young. He died 7 December 1901 at Grantsville, Tooele County, Utah, and is buried at Grantsville City Cemetery, Plot: Block L, Section 1, Lot 13, Space 3W, Grantsville, Tooele County, Utah, United States.
Harrison crossed the plains with the William Snow/ Joseph Young Company in 1850 with his wife Dorcas Mc Bride and all the children listed except Hyrum who was born after their arrival in Grantsville.
