About Harry (Aron) Decker

Aron Dekelbaum (#P41) The 1920 Census shows Harry Decker, age 39, living at 1613 S. Ridgeway Avenue in Chicago. He was living with his wife Esther (age 38) and his seven children: son Jacob, age 17, born in Russia son Barnet, age 11, born in Russia daughter Sarah, age 9, born in Russia son Samuel, age 7, born in Illinois son Abe, age 4 3/4, born in Illinois son Askel, age 3 1/6, born in Illinois son Max, age 6 months, born in Russia It appears from this census record that Ester must have returned to Russia sometime in 1919 when she was already pregnant with her son Max, and then returned again to America after Max was born. I have no record of this migration. In the 1928 Chicago City Directory, Harry Decker was a carpenter living at 1613 Ridgeway Avenue. Also living at that same address were Sarah Decker, a stenographer for Wm H Murphy; B. Decker, who was with Caneo Printing Corp; and Jacob L. Decker, who was an accountant with Golman Brookstone & Co.

Aron Deckelbaum appears in the 1937 Chicago Voter Registration, living at 1510 S. Ridgeway Avenue (code 22-34).

The death certificate for a Harry Decker states that he was born on September 15, 1883, and died November 20, 1972 in the Lake Shore Nursing Home. There was no mother, father or informant information given. He was widowed. His occupation was as a carpenter. He was born in Russia. He was buried at Westlawn Cemetery in Norwood Park, Illinois on November 11, 1972. Funeral home was Hartman-Miller.
