Excerpted from Ann Walpert about the history of Harry's name:
His Hebrew name was easy; he was named after his grandfather Zvi, and since he was a Kohen, his name became Zvi ben Yoal ha Kohen.
He was the youngest of 9 children (7 sisters and one brother). His sisters decided to give him his name. They had a Harrison Piano in their home and they thought that was a nice name, so they gave him Harrison as his name. When the midwife registered his birth, 3 weeks later, she registered him as Harris Cohen. However, my father was not happy with that name and changed it to Harry after High School. While doing his Medical Residency he discovered there was another Harry Cohen in the program so he added an initial J. This is how he came to be known as Harry J. Cohen.
