Hazel Ferne Landi

The above photo is of Nello Pistelli and his wife. Nello came to America from Italy with his mother and two brothers in 1912. He lived in Pittsburgh with his family until at least 1920, but by 1930 Nello was not with the family any longer. Later he changed his name to Frank Landi, and was living in Las Vegas, Nevada. As the family story goes, when he was living in Pittsburgh he went out for either a bag of potatoes or a package of cigarettes and never came back. He married after he arrived in Las Vegas, and supposedly his wife owned a motel there. The woman pictured in the photo above may have been Nello's first wife and not Hazel Ferne Landi since they were not married until 1975 in Reno, Nevada. Based on the style of clothing and the hat this lady is wearing, I'd say this photo was probably taken many years before 1975.
