About Hector Lamont
Hector Lamont emigrated with his family to Duluth Minnesota in 1887 at the age of 8. He enlisted in the Spanish American War, joining Company A of the Minnesota Volunteers and participated in the Leech Lake Indian Expidition 1898. Hector worked as a jewler before the Spanish American War but he was diabled with a stomach ailment during the war. He worked as a railroad conductor on the Great Northern Railroad in North Dakota from 1908 to 191o. Later he joined his brothers David and Robert in working a farm near Russel, Wisconsin, where he met his wife Georgia. They puchased a farm in Russel and Hector was active in local and county politics. hector also worked at the Spaulding Hotel in Duluth, Minnesota.
He was shot and killed by a deranged neighbor on December 23, 1934 retuning late at night from Christmas shopping.
