After knowing each other six weeks, they married, had five children

and lived together for sixty-three years until her death.

The family traveled the country while he was in the Navy, finally

settling in Powells Point, North Carolina after he left civil service.

He became the first realtor in the county of Currituck and was

instrumental in its development. She was epitome of the "military

wife." During the years he was not with the family, she raised her

children with a strong and loving hand and a strong will, demanding

and receiving of them all good character and the will to succeed.

Helen and Ed Bishop are remembered by their children as strong,

extremely intelligent, loyal to the family and loving parents. They

truly were the "greatest generation."
