15 August 1531: Charter under the Great Seal of Scotland which confirms possession of the lands of Braidwod in the barony of Innerwick to James Hamilton of Innerwick and his wife HELENE HUME. James had previously resigned this land in order to obtain a confirmation in favour of himself and his wife, who were to hold Braidwod in conjunct fee and liferent. It was destined to pass to their lawful male heirs, whom failing to James's nearest male heirs whatsoever. RMS 1513-1546: charter number 1059
