About Helen Marie Kelley
Helen M. Boynton was born in Palermo, Maine, February 9, 1854. When about five years of age she came to Wilton. On December 31st, 1878 she was married to Absalom B. Kelley, to which union were born six children, Albert B., Mrs. Anna Barclay, Oliver E., Mrs. Vera Lenker, Irving L., and Mrs. Lela Marolf. Also two step children, Mrs. Maude Smith and Royal B., all of Wilton or vicinity. Besides the family of children, she leaves to mourn their loss, a devoted husband, one sister, Mrs. B. Clark and seven grand-children. We all knew here to have been a loving and devoted wife and mother, giving her time and best self to the good of others. For many years she with her family lived on a farm in Cedar county, just north of Wilton. Eighteen years ago they moved into town, where the rest of her earthly life was spent among her friends and they were many. She was converted at the age of fourteen and united with the Farmington Freewill Baptist church of which she remained a consistent member until her death. For some years she had been in failing health and was deprived of attending to the duties of public worship. Her home life was noticeable in her singular devotion to her dear ones, thinking more of the interest of others than of her own. After a brief, but serious illness, she passed to her reward on Tuesday, January 11th, 1916, aged 61 years, 11 months and 2 days. The funeral was held at the residence Friday afternoon at 1:30, conducted by Rev. J. C. Caughlan, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church of Wilton. The family have the deepest sympathy of the community.
