About Henri III, Count of Vaudémont
https://genealogics.org/getperson.php?personID=I00027482&tree=LEO
BIOGRAPHY Henri III de Lorraine, comte de Vaudémont, was born about 1285, the son of Henri II de Lorraine, comte de Vaudémont, and Helisende de Vergy. He was a minor when his father died in battle after 2 July 1299, and he was comte de Vaudémont from 1299 to his death in 1348. During his minority the county was ruled by Gaucher de Châtillon, comte de Porcean and constable of France, who had married Henri's mother.
In 1305 Henri invaded the duchy of Lorraine and laid waste to the area around Nancy. In reprisal he was attacked by Thibault II, duke of Lorraine, but Thibault was defeated at Réméréville, then at Pulligny. Henri and Thibault made peace, and in February 1306 Henri married Thibault's sister Isabelle, daughter of Frédéric III, duke of Lorraine, and Marguerite de Champagne. Isabelle was widow of Duke Ludwig of Bavaria, who died in 1290. Henri and Isabelle had two children, Henri IV and Marguerite; only Marguerite would have progeny.
Henri III fought in the battle of Cassel in 1328, alongside Philippe VI, king of France. His son Henri IV was killed at the battle of Crécy on 26 August 1346, so Henri III made his grandson Henri V, son of his daughter Marguerite and Anceau de Joinville, seneschal de Champagne, heir to the county of Vaudémont. Henri III died between 30 August 1347 and 21 January 1348 and was buried at Vaudémont.
