About Henrietta Crawford
According to the "Hailey or Haley" family history listed in "The Official History of Elbert County," William Hailey had daughters, among others, named "Ritta" and "Mary". Both of these women married into the Adams family. First names of the husbands are not listed in this Haley genealory. However, the same source provides an Adams family history. On page 327, two brothers, sons of Thomas Adams and Sarah Ford, are identified, as follows: Thomas F. Adams, b. June 5, 1791; m. (1) Widow Crawford; (2) Miss Jenkins. James B. Adams, b. March 25, 1795; m. April 10, 1817, Polly Hailey.
Henaritta is the above mentioned "Widow Crawford." Her first husband, John Crawford, died in 1815, leaving her to raise their three sons: William Haley Crawford, Burton Earl Crawford and Leroy K. Crawford. Around 1817, she married (2nd) Thomas Ford Adams. Henaritta's children from her (2nd) husband, Thomas Adams, were Melissa Jane Adams, Winston Adams, Piety Adams, and Labon Adams [C.S.A. died May 6, 1864 at Battle of the Wilderness, Virginia]. Thomas Ford Adams full name and Henaritta's death date are stated in Thomas' application for pension. Henrietta's sister, Polly Haley, married Thomas' brother, James Adams, in 1817.

We have no interest in this claim. /s/ Winston (x his mark) Adams, Nancy (x her mark) Adams. T. C. Stephenson, Ordinary, Hart Co., Ga.
An Adams researcher identified the name of Thomas Ford Adams' second wife, Elizabeth Jenkins, and stated that she and Thomas were living together before 1830, long before Henaritta died in 1843. This situation may have been the reason why Henaritta's father, William Haley, did not name his son-in-law, Thomas Adams, in his will dated 1830; but named instead Thomas' brother, James Haley, as guardian to Henaritta and her children.
