About Henry Valentine Becher
- Henry Valentine Becher was the third child of the Rev. Michael Henry Becher and his wife Philippa Catherine Jennings and the third to died. He was born on Valentine's day, the 14th Feb 1859 at the Rectory of Barnoldby-le-Beck, Lincolnshire.
- He was known as Valentine.
- On the trip to Australia with his parents and brother Valentine caught the measles and died after a convulsion. The position at sea was noted "Lat 5 deg N, long 25 deg w,At sea". He was buried at sea which must have been very difficult for his family to bear.
- 1861 Argus Thursday 4 July 1861 “ DEATH~BECHER- On 26 April, on board ship Queen of the Mersey, in lat. 5 deg. N., long. 25deg. W., of convulsions, after measles, Henry Valentine, son of the Rev.
