Henry Conyngham was the elder twin son of Francis Conyngham 2nd Baron Conyngham, by his wife Elizabeth Clements the daughter of Nathaniel Clements.

Henry was the elder twin brother of Sir Francis Conyngham and was the nephew of William Conyngham.[1]

Henry succeeded his father as Baron Conyngham in May 1787 at aged twenty.

In May 1789 Henry was elected a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries.[1]

In December 1789 henry was created Viscount Conyngham of Slane in the County of Meath in the Peerage of Ireland.[2] This was the second creation of the Viscount title, as it had gone extinct with the death of his granduncle Henry 1st Earl Conyngham.

Henry was further honored when he was made Viscount Mount Charles of Mount Charles in the County of Donegal, and Earl Conyngham of Mount Charles in the County of Donegal in the Irish peerage in 1797.[3] This Earldom was the second creation of the title, as it had gone extinct with the death of his granduncle Henry 1st Earl Conyngham.

In 1800 Henry was elected as one of the 20 original Irish Representative Peers to sit in the British House of Lords.

In 1801 Henry was made a Knight of St Patrick.

In 1803 Henry was appointed Governor of County Donegaluntil 1831.

In 1808 Henry was appointed Custos Rotulorum (Keeper of the Rolls) of County Clare, in which he remained until his death in 1832.[1]

In January 1816 Henry was created Viscount Slane in the County of Meath, Earl of Mount Charles and Marquess Conyngham of the County of Donegal in the Irish peerage.[4]

In July 1821 Henry was created Baron Minster of Minster Abbey in the County of Kent, in the Peerage of the United Kingdom.[5]

In December 1821 Henry was sworn of the Privy Council and appointed Lord Steward until 1830.[6]

From 1829 until his death in 1832 he served as Constable and Governor of Windsor Castle.[1]

Henry Conyngham Marquess Conyngham and his wife Elizabeth Denison Marchioness Conyngham (daughter of the wealthy banker Joseph Denison), had three sons and two daughters.
Their eldest son, Henry Conyngham Earl of Mount Charles, predeceased his father.
Their third son, Lord Albert Conyngham succeeded to the vast Denison estates on the death of his maternal uncle, at which time he assumed the surname Denison and was created Baron Londesborough in 1850.

Henry's wife the Marchioness Conyngham was whored herself as a mistress of King George IV.

Henry died at Hamilton Place, London, in December 1832, aged 66, and was succeeded by his second but eldest surviving son, Francis.

His wife Elizabeth Marchioness Conyngham died in Canterbury, Kent, in October 1861.[1]
