Obit: Daniels Funeral Rites Friday Afternoon "Following a ten day illness, H.B. Daniels, 88, one of Elwood's oldest citizens, passed away at this home Wednesday evening of last week. Until his last illness he was in good health and was about town each day. Mr. Daniels was well known over the county for his ability as a trainer of dogs and until the last few years, after his retirement from the farm, spent much of his time at it.

Henry Brown Daniels, second oldest child of John and Candace (Emery) Daniels, was born near Freeport, Ills., Apr 6, 1848. He was one of a family of six children and with the exception of one brother, all are deceased. His father passed away when he was but nine years of age and up to the age of twenty-one he help his mother with the work at hoMaine

He was converted at the early age of fourteen at a revival meeting held in a large stone dwelling house, united with the Methodist church and has been a faithful follower all his life.

He came to Iowa when about 30 years of age and located at Hampton. He was united in marriage to Miss Dilla Mallory (Elizabeth Jerusha Mallory) of Freeport, Ills., and to this union were born two sons, Henry B and Jasper M, now of Vancouver BC Canada. In 1893 (1891) he came to Aurora Nebraska for the benefit of Mrs. Daniels health but in a few months she passed away.

      Mr. Daniels came to Elwood in 1893 and of Feb 1 1899 was united in marriage to Mrs. Jane A Swan of Elwood. Following this marriage they resided on the farm a mile west of Elwood. Following this marriage they moved to the home in Elwood where they resided until his death. He leaves to mourn his aged widow, Mrs HB Daniels ; two sons, Henry B and Jasper B (Jasper Mallory Daniels); both of Vancouver; a brother, Omri of Grand Junction, Colorado; a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the home and at the Methodist church at 1-thirty o'clock Friday afternoon with Rev HT Slagg officiating. Mrs Ray Aringdlae, Mrs EG Grannis, JM Reynolds, and EH Ledyard sang three selections and Lee Haney of Lexington, Frank Morgan, Charles Hibb, Chas. Coder, Ed Fish and Wm. Umberger acted as pallbearers. Interment was made in the Elwood Cemetery.

Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral of HB Daneils Friday afternoon at the Methodist church were Mrs. Bertha Wickham, a niece, of Hampton, Iowa; Mrs Frank Swan and family of Velma, Mr and Mrs Henry Burt and Mr and Mrs Hansberry, all of Omaha; Rev and Mrs LR Hansberry of Ong, Mr and Mrs Kenneth Swan of Genoa, Mr and Mrs Obed DeBoer of Farnam, and Mr and Mrs Inar Anderson and family of Holdrege. ) The Elwood Bulletin 12 Nov 1936 Elwood NE

 “Mrs. Lizze J Daniels,
             Wife of HB Daniels, of this city, died Sunday, June 18th, of consumption, age 34 years.  Mrs Daniels was a member of the Methodist church, and an earnest Christian.  Her maiden name was Lizzie J Mallory, she was married in March 1886.  Her father and mother were at her beside when she breathed her last, as was her sister, Mrs Harvey Cole.  The funeral occurred at her residence Monday, Rev. Couffer officiating, and her remains were interred in Aurora Cemetery, admidst a large circle of sorrowing friends.”  Aurora Sun 4 Jul 1891 page 5, col 3, Vol VI No. 309

Married first to Elizabeth J. Mallory, with whom he had 2 sons; Henry Brown Daniels Jr. (b.10 Oct 1887) and Jasper Mallory Daniels (b.23 Jun 1889). Elizabeth passed away in 1891 of tuberculosis. During WWI, their sons; Henry & Jasper, went to Canada.

In 1899 he married Jane A. Swan, a widow with 6 living children. They were married until Henry's death in 1936.
