Second son Henry was born at Stepney, Middlesex (on the outskirts of the City of London) on 6 November 1414.[8] He was baptised there shortly thereafter.[8] He became heir to his father due to the early death of elder brother Ralph.[9]

Esq. by his wife Isabell, sister and heire of Sir Henry Greene of Drayton in the said County: which Margaret was sister to Sir Henry Vere, whose eldest daughter and coheire Elisabeth, was wife of Iohn first Lord Mordant, lieth here buried with her husband Iohn Barners."
