Death: Feb. 22, 1893 Valdosta Lowndes County Georgia, USA

Henry HOLLIDAY served in the quartermasters corps of the 27th regiment of Georgia. Father of DOC Holliday, lived in Augusta where he served as Mayor, the Secretary of the County Agricultural Society, a Member of the Masonic Lodge, the Secretary of the Confederate Veterans Camp.

Major Henry Burroughs Holliday, participated in the Cherokee Indian War, Mexican War and Civil War. When the major returned from the Mexican War, he brought home a young Mexican boy who was orphaned by the war, his name was Francisco Hidalgo. After the major served the Confederate Army, he moved his family from Griffin, GA. to Valdosta, GA., to land that was given to him. His wife, Alice Jane McKey Holliday, died of tuberculosis in 1866, when Doc was 12. His step brother Francisco also died of tuberculosis a short time later. His mother is where it is believed that Doc contracted the disease. He also had a daughter, Martha Holliday, who was born & died before Doc was born. Shortly after his wife died, he married Rachel Martin (Dec. 18, 1866).

• **I came across Martha's grave in search of Doc's & his Father's graves (Doc's remains were believed to have been transfered from Glenwood Springs, CO back home to Griffin GA by his father, years after he died).
