Carter, Kate B. The Mormon Battalion, p. 128: HENRY WEEKS SANDERSON

Henry Weeks Sanderson was born in Blanford, Massachusetts the 13th of March, 1829 to James and Mary Jane Sparks Sanderson. His parents were converted to the Latter-day Saint religion and arrived in Nauvoo, Illinois in the year 1843. When the Saints arrived at Council Bluffs, Henry was seventeen years of age, but was accepted as a member of the Mormon Battalion in Company "D." He came with members of the sick detachment from Pueblo to Salt Lake City five days after the arrival of the original band of pioneers.

After he had been in the Valley two weeks he was asked to drive an ox team back to the Bluffs. His mother and sisters were still there. On March 7, 1850 he married Rebecca Ann Sanders and shortly after started the journey westward.

During his later years he moved to Sanpete County. He passed away November 18, 1896.
