Henry Short & his family came to New England in the MARY & JOHN in 1634. According to "Ipswich, Essex, and Hamilton Mass.", Henry Short moved to and settled in Ipswich in 1635 along with other of my ancestors, MATHIAS BUTTON in 1639, RALPH FARNAM in 1639, RICHARD KIMBALL in 1637, and FRANCIS PEABODY in 1636, and an Anthony Short in 1635 (who may have been Henry brother). He was "unduly chosen" as a representative for Ipswichand was not allowed to be a deputy to the general court. The family removed to Newbury, Mass along with John Spencer & Nicholas Easton in 1636, selling his land in Ipswich to Samuel Appleton on July 25, 1638. On Dec. 4, 1641, he was chosen to be one of four to see that the estate of John Goffe was divided between his wife and childen and to take care of the children's portion. He was chosen a representative of Newbury and was selected by the General Court to be part of a committee to settle the dispute between Haverhill and Salisbury in regard to land in 1654.
He married (1) Elizabeth in England, and (2) Sarah Glover on October 9, 1649. His widow married Robert Adams on February 6, 1678.
His will was filed on June 19, 1673, but not proved.
