Henry Semple (a) was born on November 26, 1909 in Larkhall, South Lanarkshire, Scotland, UK, son of Thomas Semple and Catherine "Kate" (McLaren) Semple (a).

Henry Semple, a coal miner, married Elizabeth Morack, a month after she turned 14. Henry was almost 20 years old when they married but gave his age as 21, and Elizabeth gave her age as 18, on their Marriage License. They were married by Justice of the Peace Albert Bien on June 7, 1929 in Deer Lodge, Powell County, Montana. At that time, Henry gave both their residences as Anaconda, Montana. They later divorced.

On July 17, 1937, Henry Stewart Semple, age 27, married Sigrid Elizabeth Laukka, age 21, performed by Rev. Charles Rhodes at Red Lodge, Carbon County, Montana. They had 3 children, Jean, Catherine and David Semple.

On March 21, 1987, Henry Semple, age 77, died in Eugene, OR, with burial in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Eugene, Lane County, Oregon.
