Hepzibah (BUELL) WELLS BELDING was captured by the Indians in 1704 and died on the march to Canada. Her burial is not in this cemetery.

Married first to Thomas Wells in Hadley on January 12, 1673. Married second to Daniel Belding on February 17, 1699 in Deerfield, Massachusetts.

Moved to Hadley Mass in 1673 and to Deerfield, Mass.

In June 1693, widow Hepzibah and her three daughters were knocked in the head and scalped by the Indians, at Deerfield. Two daughters died, but the mother and one daughter recovered from their injuries.

IN 1704 Hepzibah was abducted by the Indians during the Indian Massacre of 1704 and killed on the way to Canada.
