Herbert L. Hubbard, 98, died January 7, 2007. Funeral services were today, January 10, at the First Christian Church in Lathrop, with burial in Converse Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Converse Cemetery Association, c/o Dana Evans, 6176 S. E. 248th Street, Lathrop, Mo. 64465. Herb was born August 25, 1908, in Ozark county, the son of Virgil and Callie (Smith) Hubbard. The family moved to Clinton County in a covered wagon when Herbe was five-years-old. He was a farmer. He was an active member in the Converse Christian Church until it closed in 1956. He Joined the Lathorp Christin Church that year and served as a deacon and a trustee. He was a longtime member of the Converse Cemetery Association Board of Directors and cared for that cemetery. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Elmo Gow Hubbard, in 1995; a daughter, Helen Joy Bailey in 1982; a son who died in infancy; and three brothers, Fred, Lowell and Jack Hubbard. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Clifford McElhinney of Lathrop; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchldren; two brothers, Bill Hubbard of Converse and Jim Hubbard of Cameron; and three sisters, Bertha Grady, Brooksie cooper, and Bonnie Fry, all of Cameron; and many other relatives.
