Hermann Hönig von Hönigsberg

In 1793 Jewish census of Tábor District (PDF, p. 32/117, at Census lists of Jews in Bohemia 1723/1724–1811).

His name appears in the census record, at least according to the transcription that has been published, as "Herschmann [sic] Hönig, Edler von Hönigsberg," to which is added "verheiratet, von Prag." In the Familiant record his name is written as as "Hönigsberg Edler v[on] Hermann zu Prag," which is clearly garbled, as his father's name is given as "Enoch Edler v[on] Hönigsberg." The first record almost certainly has his given name wrong while the second one has misrepresented his given name as his surname. "Edler" is of course a title rather than a name, which is not transmitted to his wife or to any of his children but the eldest son living at a given time. For this reason it is omitted from the name in the profile.
