I found out during my adolescence that I had another sister mom and dad never spoke of....a half sister who died young of an infected face pimple. How? My auntie Margaret was at the cemetery with me and as she cried over her son's grave...I went gravestone reading nearby. I found a stone with a photo of a cute baby and her father was my father, but her mother was not my mother. When I asked Auntie Margaret about the baby who shared my father with me, she looked upset that I had found out.
When I got home, I scolded my mom for not telling me. Then she told me all about this short-lived sister.
Piilani is the first of three ancient Hawaiian names daddy gave three of his girls, to help remember metaphorically....how to investigate his genealogy without getting "lost."
He taught me the secret, and yes...it works. Lptm
