Hiram Debaun Buys was a Methodist minister in New York. He married Elizabeth Huntington, a woman with a heritage of Pilgrims, patriots and the clergy. The Buys/Huntington families moved to the mid-west in the 1840's. Later, they traveled as pioneers to the Utah Territory.
