Hiram Byrd Murphy

Hiram was the son of Sion Jr (III) & Delilah Susannah [White] Murphy, both of Union County South Carolina. Husband of Elizabeth [Jackson] Murphy, married Nov 9, 1830, Cross Keys Union County South Carolina. They had the following known Children:Julia Ann, Susanah, Nancy Caroline, John Franklin, Isaac Martin, William Lial. Hiram had the following siblings:Isaac, Nathan, Mary, Sylvia, Eady, Mildred, Jason, Jeptha, Delilah. He and Elizabeth sold their land in Union Co SC, in 1853, and by September of 1854, had bought land in Cherokee Co GA, where they lived the rest of their lives.

Hiram was ordained a deacon at the Chalcedonia Baptist Church in Cherokee Co GA, later to become members of te Sharp Mountain Baptist Church, the rest of their days, and who's cemetery they are buried. His father Sion Murphy Jr (III) served in the American Revolution. He was very active in his Church, and Community, and very well trusted and respected, in his various duties.
