About Holger Ewald Heller

https://vademecum.nacr.cz/vademecum/permalink?xid=a67fc290-b8d0-4ce... – His birth registration entry.

Holger Ewald Heller was rescued from Prague on March 8, 1939, by the Barbican Mission to the Jews (BMJ), with the help of Nicholas Winton, one of the organizers of the Kindertransport. His sister Eva Lewitus (born Heller) was rescued by the same organization on January 12, 1939.

Both appear with their father in the film that is kept at the USHMM (https://collections.ushmm.org/search/catalog/irn1000675). This film gave rise to a Czech TV documentary on the Barbican Mission (see https://english.radio.cz/new-doc-uncovers-mission-saved-scores-jewi...).

The rescued children reunited in January 1989 in Chislehurst, Kent. On this occasion, they donated a bench with a plaque that reads “Rev. & Mrs. I.E. Davidson & Friends – gratefully remembered by all the BMJ children (68 of them rescued from Central Europe 1939).

Vera Barron (born Altmann) organized a book “Golden Memories 1939-1989)”, private edition, with several photos of the children, who contributed to the book with a short account of their lives and family.

There is also a book "For a Future and a Hope - the story of the houses of refugee in Chislehurst" written by Lucy Vyvyan Davidson the wife of the Mission's director, Reverend Isaac Emmanuel Davidson. Mrs. Davidson tells the story of the Mission´s effort to shelter the children. There are also some reports about some of the children.

The Barbican Mission to the Jews (BMJ), now Christian Witness to Israel keeps some files from some children.
