Hon. Jacob Sleeper (Founder of Boston University)

The founders of Boston University were Isaac Rich (1801-1872), Lee Claflin (1791-1871), and Jacob Sleeper (1802-1889), all of whom were successful merchants based in Boston, Massachusetts, and Methodist laymen interested in education. They obtained the University's Charter from the Massachusetts Legislature in 1869.
