Horace Brisbin Liveright, son of a German immigrant father, was born December 10, 1886 in Osceola Mills, Pennsylvania. He married Lucille Elsas, daughter of Herman Elsas and Carrie Reinhart. They had two children, Herman and Lucy. He was a publisher by trade and also composed music. He died on September 24, 1933 in New York City from pneumonia, complicated by alcoholism.
