About Howard Linwood Pillsbury
Farmington – Howard L. Pillsbury, 77, of Farmington passed away on Monday, Jan. 31, at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.
He was born in Cornish, on April 8, 1927, the son of George and Eva (Hoar) Pillsbury. He was educated in the schools of Rangeley, and served in the United States Army during World War II, receiving the Army of Occupation medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
He married the former Annie Williams on Dec. 25, 1954 in Stratton. He was employed as a mechanic and truck driver for D.C. Morton in Rangeley, then truck driver and mechanic for Sonny Fotter in Stratton. He then worked for White Front Garage in Stratton as a mechanic, and then on to Morton Motors in Farmington, as a mechanic, for many years. He then became self-employed, owning and operating Midway Auto Repair in Wilton before retiring in 1992.
He enjoyed building, attending, and supporting stock car racing in Oxford and Unity. He also enjoyed Nascar. He liked woodworking, going camping and his dogs.
Besides his wife of 50 years, Annie, of Farmington, he is survived by two sons, Raymond Pillsbury and wife, Kim, of Farmington, and John Pillsbury and wife, Sherry, of Litchfield; four grandchildren, Nichole, Michelle, Jeremy, and Thomas; and several nieces and nephews.
